When I was pregnant I had HORRIBLE melasma. I had no idea what to do other than stay out of the sun which is hard to do in Southern California. Luckily with time and the right postpartum skincare routine my melasma has drastically faded and I couldn’t be happier! In today’s post I’m sharing my postpartum skincare routine that is also safe for breastfeeding, enjoy!
MY MORNING ROUTINE:
Cleanse with Garnier Micellar water. I also really like Bioderma Micellar water.I typically take a shower right before I go to bed and that is when I wash off all of my makeup. When I wake up in the morning I don’t really have anything on my face other than a little bit of oil, so the micellar water just gives my skin a refresh before putting on my AM products.
Skinceuticals CE Ferulic. I’ve used this for years and it always makes my skin look 100 times better! I was using another Vitamin C that’s pictured but ran out of it so I’m no longer using that.
Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Eye Treatment. I love the applicator of this eye cream and it’s great for puffiness under the eyes.
Elta MD Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 41. I’ve been using this product for almost a decade and cannot live without it! I also use their suncreen on my face at the beach.
MY NIGHTLY ROUTINE:
IS Clinical Cleansing Complex. I use this in the shower and it washes 90% of my makeup off. I LOVE this cleanser! It is so smooth and makes your face feel so clean.
ZO MEDICAL Toner or Garnier Micellar Water. I use exfoliating cotton rounds and love how they lightly exfoliate while I get the rest of my makeup off.
IS Clinical Super Serum Advance. After my face is completely makeup free and still a little bit wet from the micellar water, I use this serum. This serum has helped my melasma tremendously paired with the Vitamin C serum in the morning.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream. I use this is a my primary nightly moisturizer. I LOVE this moisturizer and think it’s better than La Mer! It has the same thick consistency as La Mer and it smells divine. I typically do not like scented skincare products but this one is lightly scented and it’s so good!
IS Clinical Sheald Recovery Balm. I use this on days when I have little dry spots. Sometimes my nose or the skin around my eyes gets really dry and I use this to combat the dryness. It’s also amazing for winter! I used this every night when we were in Kentucky for Christmas and my skin didn’t dry out at all!
Below are photos of my melasma right before I had Jett (May 2018) and now (February 2019). It’s a HUGE difference and I truly believe these products have helped my melasma tremendously. Looking back I honestly cannot believe how bad it was but I’m so thankful that it’s almost gone! I know a lot of these products are pricey, so if you only splurge on one I would highly recommend the Skinceuticals CE Ferulic. It is amazing for so many reasons! My skin always looks so much better when I’m using it.
I hope this post was helpful if you too have melasma from pregnancy! Have a great day!

Haley
