WOW! Our little baby turned one on May 14th at 7:43 am. I can’t believe it’s been a year already, but it has definitely been the best year of my entire life. Being his mom is the best job I will ever have and for that I am so lucky. About a week and a half into month 11, I didn’t think I’d have much to put in this post and boy did that change quickly! Keep reading on all of his latest milestones!

LIKES:
LOVES the water. He is obsessed. We’ve taken him to the pool a few times this year and he absolutely loves splashing around, crawling in the shallow end, and even putting his face under water. I didn’t think we would need to get him swim lessons so early, but we might sign up for some this summer since he’s such a little dare devil.
DISLIKES:
Unfortunately in the past few weeks, Jett hates being put in his car seat. It’s a real pain in the butt because he stiffens his whole body and won’t sit down so putting him in the car is really fun- ha! He usually will sit down if you give him a paci, but then immediately throws the paci on the floor. We also give him different toys that we keep in the car and sometimes that helps!
MILESTONES:
Jett started sleeping at night without his sleep sack. He had been napping without it for a few weeks and we decided to wing it one night to see if he would sleep through the night without it. Since we don’t use our AC a lot in the summer (Jett’s room has a fan), we wanted to get him used to sleeping without his sleep sack before summer time. He’s been sleeping without it for a few weeks now and we haven’t had any issues with him waking up at night!
The biggest milestone this past month would have to be Jett graduating from his helmet! We are SO EXCITED that phase is over. You can read more about his helmet treatment in this post.
Week 50: He finally waved! I’ve been trying to teach him to wave ‘Hi” and “Bye” for months, and he finally waved….at the DOG. Ha! Since then he’s only waved bye to the dog in the morning a few times and it’s a very unenthusiastic wave. He’s just too cool for a happy wave I guess!
Week 50: He took his first steps! We were at my brother and sister in laws house and Jett spotted something on the coffee table as he was leaning on the couch and stepped right over to the coffee table. He took maybe 3 steps and I was SHOCKED because he hasn’t shown any interest in standing up or walking. He can stand without assistance when he wants to but only does it occasionally.
Week 51: Jett started saying “I DID IT!” constantly. It is hilarious and I have no idea where he learned it because it wasn’t something I was saying to him all of the time. I’m guessing he picked it up at daycare.
Week 51: Started to stand up on his own. This week his new favorite thing is a deep squat. It always amazes me how strong little ones are because if I were to do as many squats as he has in the past week, I wouldn’t be able to walk. He loves to squat down and then flail both of his hands onto the glass doors in our house. He also stood up in the bath tub (that I still have in the sink) this week too. I’ve been holding out on bathing him in the bathtub but I realize that the time has come!
Week 51: His newest thing is “trust falling” forward now that he can kind of stand up on his own. He gets up on both feet, puts his arms up in the air and then falls forward on whatever is in front of him. If you’re scared when reading this, that makes two of us. He’s a daredevil and has even tried doing this off of his changing pad while I happened to be leaned to the other side throwing a way a diaper. Luckily I caught him with one hand BEHIND my back. It was terrifying. Since then he hasn’t tried this again, thank God!
Week 52: We finally started bathing Jett in the bathtub and not in the sink anymore. He honestly could’ve gone into the tub months ago, but I was just holding out because bathing him in his Boon soak tub in the sink was SO EASY! It also forced me to do the dishes every night- ha! I was so sad to get rid of the Boon soak tub. It’s so sad when they grow out of things that you love so much and have so many memories of. Bath time in the sink was my favorite time of the night, but now he’s trying to swim around in the bathtub which is pretty hilarious too!
EAT:
Jett is eating solids only at this point. Sometimes he will have yogurt or we will let him try something we’re eating (like ice cream), but he really likes to feed himself and can’t quite use a spoon yet. He is still drinking formula (Enfamil Neuro Pro) until he turns one and we will switch him to whole milk as per the doctors recommendation (which I’m still uneasy about). He is also drinking a TON of water. He will fuss when you open the refrigerator and not fill his water cup! We currently are using this munchkin sippy cup, but I plan on getting him a weighted straw cup as well. So far, he’s not terribly picky, but I also wouldn’t say he will eat anything either. He has a weird thing with textures of foods and won’t eat anything that’s too out of the ordinary for him. Currently his favorite foods are blueberries, cheese sticks, and blackberries (any berry really)!
SLEEP:
Jett is still sleeping through the night with the occasional wake-up. Typically he falls right back to sleep when he finds his pacifier so that’s really great! The only time he wakes up and won’t go back to sleep recently are if he has an ear infection (he’s had 3 already- ah!). He’s a really great napper as well. He’s still taking a nap from 10:00-11:00am and from 1:30-3:30pm. I’m hoping he can keep napping twice for as long as possible- ha!
I think that about covers everything! Let me know if you have any questions, or you can always DM me on Instagram! I think I’ll keep these updates coming every few months but we will see. Jett changes so fast it seems like if I don’t do an update until 18 months it will be a super long post! I hope these monthly updates were helpful to you!

Haley
