Working out in the morning is the best way to ensure that you'll actually get a workout in, but getting into the routine of swapping your PJ's for running shoes is a tough one. Over the years, I've developed some tried and true techniques that help me get out of bed (even when it's snowing outside-gasp!) and get to the gym. These 5 tips will help you become the morning workout person you've always wanted to be- let's do this!
HITTING SNOOZE IS OK
During those 5 minutes of snooze time, instead of going back to sleep, think about all of the reasons why you should get out of the bed and get a good sweat in. Think of it as a five minute "pep talk" with yourself as in "go me, I can do this! I'm going to crush this workout!"
WEAR YOUR CLOTHES TO BED
Wearing your workout gear to bed will not only help you get ready to hit the gym faster, but it will also reduce the amount of dirty laundry! If you're not a fan of stretchy clothing in bed (or clothing at all), just make sure you lay out your entire workout outfit. This includes socks, undergarments, a coat, and even gloves and a scarf if it's really cold outside.
FIND A DELICIOUS PRE-WORKOUT DRINK
And make it the night before! I'm obsessed with the taste of watermelon C4 and find myself excited to drink it when I get out of bed! It will also help wake you up and have enough energy to have a good workout.
TREAT YO'SELF TO A SNACK
If you're anything like me, no matter what you eat the night before you're starving when you wake up. Fasted cardio is great for burning calories, but not if you feel like you might vomit. Having low calorie granola bars handy so you can grab one and go is a great way to get your metabolism going and your mind ready for a workout.
DON'T GIVE UP
This is the most important tip of them all! It may seem obvious, but getting into the routine of working out in the morning is a lot harder than you might think. At first, you might not feel like you're getting a good workout and that's discouraging. Keep at it, and after a few weeks your body will catch up to speed with your early morning gym routine!
Now are you ready to workout?! YOU CAN DO IT! Thank you so much for stopping by Me & Mr. Jones, have the best weekend ever!
